Lawrence, MA – Joshua Morales, 31, is looking at serious time after pleading guilty to a federal drug charge. The bust, stemming from a months-long investigation, netted 10,000 fake Percocet pills packed with fentanyl. Morales copped a plea deal in Boston federal court this week, facing sentencing on June 12, 2026.
Cops had Morales under surveillance back in August 2025, watching him haul a large orange bag out of a Methuen house flagged as a drug manufacturing site. A subsequent traffic stop in Lawrence turned up the massive stash of counterfeit pills in Morales’ vehicle. It wasn’t just Percocet; a raid on the Methuen location revealed a full-blown pill press operation.
Investigators seized kilograms of fake Adderall and Percocet, also laced with fentanyl and methamphetamine. The place was stocked with everything needed to crank out fake pills – cutting agents, blenders, scales, and bags of raw powder. Authorities believe the operation was pumping out dangerous fakes for street-level distribution.
Morales could face up to 20 years in prison, plus years of supervised release and a $1 million fine. The case was a joint effort by the FBI, Massachusetts State Police, and Methuen Police.
