WICHITA, KAN. – In a chilling turn of justice, Daederick Lacy, 25, of Wichita, Kansas, was found guilty on Thursday by a federal jury for heinous acts of sex trafficking, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall announced.
Lacy was convicted on three counts: sex trafficking of a minor, sex trafficking of an adult by force, fraud or coercion, and interstate transportation of a minor in furtherance of prostitution. The evidence against him was harrowing, revealing that Lacy directed three female victims – two minors and one adult – to work as prostitutes.
Prosecutors presented graphic details during the trial, including how Lacy advertised his victims on an adult website, rented rooms at motels for sex acts, transported victims for meetings with paying customers, and even drove a minor victim across state lines from Kansas to Texas to engage in prostitution.
Sentence is scheduled for May 11th, where Lacy faces a minimum of 10 years for the first two counts and a staggering minimum of 15 years for the coercion charge, along with a fine up to $250,000. U.S. Attorney Beall commended the relentless efforts of the Wichita Police Department, the Mesquite (Texas) Police Department, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart in bringing this case to trial.
As the community grapples with the gravity of the crime, Lacy’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against human trafficking. The jury’s verdict underscores the determination of law enforcement to protect vulnerable victims and hold traffickers accountable for their despicable actions.
