Okemah Man Gets 8 Months for Child Sex Abuse in Indian Country

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A grim day in Muskogee as Tyler Leevan Hill, 28, of Okemah, Oklahoma, receives a harsh sentence for his heinous crime against a child. Hill has been sentenced to serve 8 months behind bars, followed by an additional 6 months of home confinement and 5 years of supervised release.

The charge stems from a chilling spree of abusive sexual contact with a minor under the age of 16 in Indian Country, which spanned from October 30, 2015, to July 22, 2016. Hill’s predatory behavior was halted by the relentless work of the Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester spoke passionately about the case, emphasizing the bravery of the victim who came forward to face their abuser. ‘The courage required of a victim to come forward and talk to investigators and prosecutors should never be underestimated,’ said Kuester.

The Honorable Ronald A. White presided over the sentencing hearing, with Assistant United States Attorney Sarah McAmis representing the United States. Hill was also mandated to register as a sex offender, prohibiting any unsupervised contact with minors, complete sex offender treatment, and submit to polygraph tests and DNA requests.

Hill’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severity of sexual abuse in Indian Country and the unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies to protect vulnerable populations.”
