SEATTLE—Grimy Times breaks the chilling news that a 32-year-old Auburn, Washington, man has been apprehended by federal authorities for being a felon in possession of firearms.
AL M. TALAGA was taken into custody without incident late yesterday and is now facing serious charges announced by U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran.
The incident dates back to June 1, 2020, when Seattle Police officers responded to reports of a break-in and looting at Sneaker City on Pike Street. Witnesses pointed out that some looters had stuffed stolen goods into a Dodge Magnum parked nearby. Inside the car, police discovered several items from the store, as well as a firearm in the driver’s side door panel.
Upon impounding the vehicle and tracing its ownership to TALAGA, a court-authorized search revealed two firearms inside. One was a loaded .40 caliber Glock found in a side pocket of the door, while another loaded handgun was tucked under the floor mat on the passenger side. The Glock had been reported stolen during a 2019 home invasion robbery in Tacoma.
TALAGA is prohibited from owning firearms due to a 2005 conviction for Second Degree Robbery in King County Superior Court.
The charges against TALAGA are serious, with being a felon in possession of a firearm punishable by up to five years in prison. The case is currently under investigation by the Seattle Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kate Crisham.
The grim headlines surrounding TALAGA’s charges serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by felons who continue to violate firearms laws.
