LAHEEM JONES, also known as “Heemie,” 27, of Bridgeport, has pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven for his role in a gang-related shooting outside the state courthouse in Bridgeport. Jones, a member of the “Greene Homes Boyz” (GHB/Hotz), is charged with racketeering and attempted murder.
The plea comes after an intense investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies including the FBI, ATF, DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, and Bridgeport Police into several gangs in the area. Jones was part of a violent faction that engaged in drug trafficking and intimidation tactics to protect their criminal activities.
According to court documents, on January 27, 2020, Jones and others attempted to murder members of the East End gang in front of the courthouse. The shooting left four victims injured, including one paralyzed.
Jones also faces charges for attempting to destroy a vehicle involved in the shooting by setting it ablaze. He was caught promoting his criminal activities on YouTube and social media platforms.
Judge Arterton has scheduled sentencing for February 23, 2022, where Jones could face up to 30 years in prison. Jones is the last of eight defendants charged in this conspiracy to enter a guilty plea.
He has been detained since August 6, 2020, and awaits his fate in court.
