Cocaine Kingpin Martinez-Marquez Gets Over 10 Years

FLORIDA CRIME – In a gritty federal court ruling, Eddie “Macho” Martinez-Marquez, 33, of Kissimmee, was today sentenced by U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis to 10 years and 1 month for leading a cocaine conspiracy. Martinez-Marquez faced serious charges for conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute and distribute at least five kilograms of cocaine. Alongside his prison term, he must pay a $500,000 money judgment.

The defendant’s crime spree spanned from December 2016 to August 2018. Court documents reveal that Martinez-Marquez ran an organization that funneled cocaine into Jacksonville, regularly supplying one or two kilograms every two weeks to a co-conspirator. The drugs were then sold on the streets. Martinez-Marquez admitted to at least 15 kilograms of cocaine transactions, commanding $27,000 per kilogram and often fronting the drugs on credit.

This case was an integral part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, a program known for dismantling high-level criminal organizations. OCDETF’s multi-agency approach played a crucial role in bringing down Martinez-Marquez’s ring.

The DEA, FBI, Florida Highway Patrol, and North Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force investigated the case, while Assistant United States Attorney Michael J. Coolican prosecuted it.

“Martinez-Marquez’s sentence sends a strong message that we will not tolerate drug trafficking in our communities,” said U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. “Our law enforcement partners are dedicated to keeping our neighborhoods safe.”

Martinez-Marquez pleaded guilty on June 3, 2021, marking the end of his reign as a cocaine kingpin.
