Trafficker Sentenced to 10 Years for Fentanyl, Meth Haul

A Mexican national is heading to a decade in the slammer after a massive meth and fentanyl bust at the Presidio Port of Entry. Marcos Kenedy Ledezma Campos, 35, was sentenced to 120 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Ledezma Campos attempted to enter the Presidio Port of Entry when, during inspection, agents extracted 69 bundles from the gas tank of his vehicle. Further analysis revealed the bundles contained approximately 2.4 kilograms of fentanyl pills and 33.8 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Ledeza Campos was taken into custody and pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 24. The sentencing marked the end of a long investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the prosecution efforts of Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Greenbaum.

U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza of the Western District of Texas made the announcement, stating that those who attempt to smuggle deadly narcotics into the United States will face the full force of the law.

Campos’ 10-year prison sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine. As the opioid epidemic continues to ravage communities across the nation, law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in their efforts to disrupt and dismantle the supply chains of these deadly substances.
