A New Orleans man has been sentenced to 92 months in prison for distributing fentanyl.
ANYTHONY DOYLE, 40, was sentenced on May 21, 2024, by Chief United States District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown on three counts of distribution of Fentanyl, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(B), and 841(b)(1)(C).
According to court documents, DOYLE sold Fentanyl to undercover special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on three separate occasions in August 2023. The transactions were arranged through recorded phone calls and text messages, and were video recorded.
For one of the three drug deals, DOYLE sent his co-defendant, CARLOS GUILLEN, on his behalf. GUILLEN previously pleaded guilty to distribution of Fentanyl and received a sentence of thirty months in prison.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office would like to acknowledge the work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on this investigation. The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni of the Financial Crimes Unit.
DOYLE was also ordered to serve four years of supervised release and a mandatory special assessment fee of $300. The sentences handed down in this case are a reminder of the severe consequences of distributing deadly substances like fentanyl.
The case is a testament to the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the opioid epidemic and bring those responsible to justice.
DOYLE’s sentence is a significant blow to the fentanyl trade in New Orleans, and a warning to others who would seek to profit from the suffering of others.
