TRENTON, N.J. – Jerome ‘Righteous’ Roberts, 53, from Burlington County, New Jersey, was sentenced to 245 months in prison for his role in a heroin trafficking conspiracy that operated in Trenton and the surrounding area.
Convicted of conspiracy to distribute over one kilogram of heroin and distribution of more than 100 grams, Roberts was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Georgette Castner on June 13, 2024. The sentence followed a trial before former Chief U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson in October 2021.
Roberts and his conspirator Jakir Taylor were implicated in the distribution of hundreds of bricks of heroin, sourced from David Antonio, referred to as ‘Papi’. Interceptions over court-authorized wiretaps revealed plans to distribute up to 1.5 kilograms of the drug in a single delivery.
On August 10, 2018, Roberts acquired 200 bricks of heroin from Antonio and redistributed them. During coordinated arrests on October 25, 2018, law enforcement recovered over 1.4 kilograms of heroin from Antonio’s residence.
U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger credited several law enforcement agencies for their role in the investigation, including the FBI, ATF, Trenton Police Department, and Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. Roberts’ accomplices, Taylor and Antonio, were previously sentenced to 228 and 204 months respectively.
This case was conducted under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program.
