SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The grim halls of justice were once again echoing with the sound of betrayal as Sean Ryan Angelo Grace, a 32-year-old Sacramento resident, was charged on June 6, 2024, with producing child sexual abuse material.
The U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced that the federal grand jury had returned a five-count indictment against Grace, who is accused of convincing at least five underage girls to send him sexually explicit images and videos between August 2021 and August 2023.
This harrowing case was brought to light by the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force, which includes the Folsom Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sam Stefanki is now at the helm of the prosecution.
Should Grace be found guilty on each count, he faces a daunting sentence: a mandatory minimum of 15 years to a maximum of 30 years in federal prison, along with a $250,000 fine. Yet, as always, the court will determine the final sentence after considering all relevant factors and Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. It aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who exploit children through the internet while identifying and rescuing victims. Sean Grace is currently presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
