TULSA, Okla. – Raul Luna-Gonzalez, a 30-year-old Mexican national, was met with the harshest of justice today as he received a 21-month sentence for illegal reentry into the United States after being deported in April 2019. Luna-Gonzalez pleaded guilty to Unlawful Reentry of a Removed Alien and was also sentenced to three years of supervised release.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Harris prosecuted this case, which unraveled when Luna-Gonzalez’s fingerprints were discovered upon his arrest for Driving Under the Influence and Transporting an Open Container. The grim reality that he was an alien unlawfully residing in the United States came to light, marking his third illegal attempt to return to the country.
Joining Luna-Gonzalez in the dock was Yair de Jesus Trejo-Mendoza, a 37-year-old who has now been handed an 18-month sentence for his second offense of Driving Under the Influence. Trejo-Mendoza’s criminal history reads like a horror story: deportation in 2008, 2015, and 2023, along with convictions for drinking and driving, resisting arrest, and assault on a law officer.
Benigno Villezcas Alcantar, 42, is another Mexican national who has faced the music, sentenced to 27 months’ imprisonment for illegal reentry. His crime? Conjoint Robbery, which led to his deportation in August 2015. The U.S. Attorney Niko Boulieris prosecuted this case.
Julio Martinez-Perez, a 36-year-old Mexican national, was also sentenced for illegal reentry with a 57-month sentence. A former inmate for conspiracy to distribute heroin, Martinez-Perez’s latest offense involved trafficking fentanyl and heroin in Tulsa County. Assistant U.S. Attorney Augustus Forster prosecuted this case.
Santiago Lopez Gonzalez, 43, received an eight-month sentence for illegal reentry. His criminal history includes multiple deportations and a warrant for possession of a controlled drug. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mandy Mackenzie was the prosecutor in this instance.
The final defendant was Alexander Enemias Ortiz-Gonzalez, a 23-year-old Guatemalan national sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment for illegal reentry. His charge? Driving Under the Influence with an active warrant from Minnesota for fleeing from a police officer. Assistant U.S. Attorney Augustus Forster prosecuted this case as well.
