Armstrong’s $199,000 Fraud Bust in SC Healthcare Takedown

GRIMY NEWS ALERT: South Carolina’s Tina Marie Armstrong, 67, of Florence, has been hit with charges in the historic 2025 National Health Care Fraud Takedown. Armstrong is accused of bilking Medicare and Medicaid out of $198,981.55 through her company, Safe at Home Medical Equipment and Supplies, LLC.

The DOJ’s largest health care fraud sweep to date has landed on Armstrong for a scheme involving durable medical equipment that was either never in service, not delivered, or unauthorized. Her fraudulent claims included over $104,577.74 already paid out by the programs she is alleged to have defrauded.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Winston Holliday will be prosecuting Armstrong’s case in the District of South Carolina, highlighting the government’s commitment to protect vulnerable citizens and ensure program integrity.

Today’s takedown involved a coordinated nationwide effort against 324 defendants accused of submitting over $14.6 billion in false billings and diverting over 15 million pills of controlled substances. The seizures included over $245 million in cash, luxury vehicles, and other assets.

The takedown was led by the Health Care Fraud Unit of the DOJ Criminal Division’s Fraud Section, with core partners including U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, HHS-OIG, FBI, and DEA. Armstrong’s case is one among many that aim to deliver justice to those who prey on vulnerable citizens.

Make no mistake – this administration will not stand for such criminal activity. Armstrong’s charges serve as a stark reminder of the government’s dedication to protecting taxpayers and ensuring the health and safety of communities across America.
