Mexican Meth Kingpin Martinez-Solorzano Back in the Claws of Federal Law Enforcement

WACO, Texas – The grim saga of Pedro Martinez-Solorzano, a Mexican national with a notorious history in the Waco drug underworld, took another dark turn as he was transferred into federal custody this Friday. Martinez-Solorzano, 41, found himself back in the clutches of law enforcement after being discovered in the McLennan County Jail.

According to court documents, the seasoned criminal faced local authorities for evading arrest with a vehicle. It turned out that Martinez-Solorzano is an alien unlawfully present in the U.S., having been deported to Mexico only last February through Del Rio. However, this wasn’t his first brush with federal law – in June 2014, he was sentenced to 110 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine and aiding and abetting.

The defendant made an initial appearance today in a federal court in Waco, where he faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. The sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas announced the case, noting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is actively investigating. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Smith-Burris is the lead prosecutor in this high-profile case.

This arrest is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative that mobilizes resources to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and protect communities from violent crime. The operation leverages the full force of the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).

As always, a criminal complaint is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
