Glizzy Sentenced for Drug Dealing and Gun Posession

ARMED DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA – Isaih Malik Cox, a/k/a “Glizzy,” 27, of Gainesville, Florida, was handed down a 90-month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and carrying a firearm in relation to a drug-trafficking offense. The sentence comes courtesy of the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, John P. Heekin.

“The defendant’s conviction and sentence is the result of excellent work by local and federal law enforcement,” said U.S. Attorney Heekin. “In collaboration with our partners in and around the Northern District of Florida, we will continue to aggressively prosecute armed drug traffickers like the defendant who present a danger to the health and safety of our community.”

Chief Nelson Moya of the Gainesville Police Department echoed these sentiments, stating, “Our community will continue to stand strong against drug dealers who carry firearms and threaten the safety of our neighborhoods.”

Court documents reveal that Cox was traveling in a vehicle in Gainesville with a loaded pistol and approximately 54 grams of “molly,” which he intended to distribute. Prior to the incident, Cox was seen exiting an apartment with an AR-15 style pistol and 32 rounds of ammunition.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Gainesville Police Department conducted a joint investigation that led to Cox’s conviction. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida offers public court documents online at http://www.justice.gov/usao/fln/index.html.”
