21-Year-Old Carjacker Sentenced to Federal Prison

Prince George’s County, MD: A ruthless 21-year-old carjacker has been sentenced to federal prison for a series of armed heists across Maryland. Sean Franklin Mills, Jr., from Capital Heights, was handed a 10-year sentence followed by five years of supervised release for his involvement in multiple carjackings and the use of firearms.

Mills, along with an accomplice, terrorized Prince George’s County between November 27, 2022, and December 19, 2022. Their modus operandi involved approaching victims at gunpoint, demanding keys to their vehicles, and fleeing the scene with nothing but fear in their wake.

The spree began on November 27 when Mills and his cohort carjacked Victim 1’s Mitsubishi Outlander in Oxon Hill, Maryland. They used ski masks and handguns to orchestrate the heist, leaving a shaken victim behind.

Mills’ reign of terror continued with several other high-profile incidents. On December 4, he targeted Victim 2 at a gas station in Capitol Heights, brandishing a black handgun and demanding keys to his Honda Accord. Another carjacking took place on December 6 when Mills and his co-conspirator stole a Toyota Camry from Victim 3 in Hyattsville.

On December 8, Mills struck again at Temple Hills, Maryland, where he pointed a black and silver handgun at Victim 4, taking his Toyota Camry. The sequence of events culminated with two more carjackings on December 19. Mills targeted Victim 5 in Landover and Victim 6 in Hyattsville, using similar tactics to secure their vehicles.

The sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby reflects the severity of Mills’ actions. Acting Special Agent in Charge Evan Campanella of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) – Baltimore, and Chief George Nader of the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) were present at the sentencing to emphasize the gravity of the charges against Mills.
