San Antonio Sex Offender Velez Pleads Guilty to Citizenship Fraud

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: In a stunning revelation out of Texas, Carlos Fabian Velez, 54, has pleaded guilty to Unlawful Procurement of Citizenship or Naturalization. The San Antonio resident’s deception on his naturalization application has landed him in hot water once again.

Court documents reveal that Velez, who was naturalized as a U.S. citizen, deliberately lied when he answered ‘No’ to the question regarding any past criminal offenses. However, he knew full well that he had been involved in the distribution of child pornography since at least 2014.

This admission comes after Velez’s previous conviction for Distribution of Child Pornography, which resulted in a sentence of 210 months in prison. His latest plea deal includes mandatory denaturalization, a severe consequence for his duplicity.

U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons announced the charges against Velez, who now faces the possibility of losing his citizenship. The case was investigated by a coalition including the FBI’s Field Office in San Antonio, ICE-Homeland Security Investigations, US Citizen and Immigration Services-Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (USCIS-FDNS), and Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
