Carrillos-Rodriguez Faces Illegal Reentry Charges

TOLEDO, Ohio – A citizen of Honduras, Edin Oneil Carrillos-Rodriguez, 36, has been slapped with a severe illegal reentry charge after being caught in Vickery, Ohio. The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) in the Northern District of Ohio charged Carrillos-Rodriguez under Title 8 U.S. Code §1326, citing his previous removals in 2014 and 2025. This case is an enforcement action by Operation Take Back America.

Carrillos-Rodriguez’s journey back to the United States was no secret; he was found without consent from the U.S. Attorney General or the Secretary for Homeland Security, sparking a swift investigation by the U.S. Border Patrol-Sandusky Bay Station. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gene Crawford is leading the prosecution against him.

In addition to Carrillos-Rodriguez, Vicente Lopez-Gomez, 37, from Mexico, was sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to illegal reentry. He too had been removed in 2016 and remains detained pending deportation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara Al-Sorghali prosecuted the case, which was investigated by U.S. Border Patrol-Sandusky Bay Station and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Aurelio Mariscal-Chavez, 37, from Mexico, faced a similar fate as Lopez-Gomez, sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to illegal reentry. Like his co-defendant, Mariscal-Chavez was removed in 2016 and is currently awaiting deportation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracey Tangeman prosecuted the case, investigated by the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

These cases underscore the relentless pursuit of Operation Take Back America to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and keep communities safe. Indictments are not proof of guilt; each defendant has a right to a fair trial.

The sentences for these illegal reentry violations will be decided by the court after considering unique factors in each case, including prior criminal records if applicable. The government is under obligation to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
