Briton Jack Edward Coles Sentenced to 15+ Years for Sexually Enticing Minor

MIAMI – The grim saga of Jack Edward Coles, a 40-year-old British national, took a dark turn as he was sentenced to over 15 years in federal prison for sexually enticing a minor. Chief U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga handed down the sentence of 188 months behind bars followed by 20 years of supervised release.

Coles met his young victim through a dating app in October 2024. He lured the 14-year-old boy to meet him at a hotel, where he engaged in unspeakable acts of sexual exploitation. Coles’s predatory behavior did not end there as he attempted to arrange further meetings with the minor, including exchanges of sexually explicit photographs.

United States Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne and Acting Special Agent in Charge José R. Figueroa of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Miami led the charge against Coles. The investigation was a collaborative effort involving HSI Miami, the City of Miami Police Department, and the State Attorney’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division.

Assistant United States Attorney Dwayne Williams prosecuted the case with relentless determination. This harrowing case was brought under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative aimed at battling the ever-growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
