BUFFALO, N.Y. – The grimy streets of Buffalo were witness to a major immigration violation as Wilson Paul Loja-Angamarca, 28, an Ecuadorian national, was hauled into custody on charges of illegal re-entry into the United States.
U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo dropped the hammer today, charging Loja-Angamarca with re-entry of a removed alien—a charge that carries the possibility of two years in the clink and a quarter-million-dollar fine.
The charges stem from Loja-Angamarca’s unlawful presence in the U.S., which was uncovered during a traffic stop in Allegany on July 24, 2025. The man’s lack of proper documentation for his continued stay landed him in the crosshairs of Homeland Security agents.
This case is not just another legal scuffle; it’s part of Operation Take Back America—a DOJ initiative aimed at pushing back against illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation leverages resources from OCDETFs and PSN to bolster efforts in this fight.
Loja-Angamarca faced U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr., where his fate hung in the balance as he was detained pending further legal proceedings.
The investigation leading to Loja-Angamarca’s arrest was a joint effort by U.S. Border Patrol, led by Patrol Agent-in-Charge Juan Ramirez, Jr. Remember, the charges against Loja-Angamarca are mere accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
