Effingham Meth Kingpin Sentenced to Decade in Prison

BENTON, Ill. – The grim reality of the drug trade in Effingham County took a severe blow as Jeramy C. Hoffman, 49, of Effingham, Illinois, faced federal justice for his role as a methamphetamine kingpin.

Hoffman was convicted of two counts of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and has been sentenced to serve 110 months’ imprisonment followed by four years of supervised release. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, along with local law enforcement agencies, celebrated the successful prosecution as a testament to their collaborative efforts in combating drug trafficking in southern Illinois.

U.S. Attorney Steven D. Weinhoeft reinforced the message that traffickers will face federal prison sentences: “Trafficking drugs in southern Illinois will earn dealers a federal prison sentence,” he said. “Less meth is circulating on our streets thanks to our local law enforcement partners.”

Effingham Police Chief Kurt Davis echoed the sentiment, expressing gratitude for the partnership and commitment that keeps dangerous drugs off the streets: “These cases show what can be accomplished when local, county, and federal agencies work together toward a common goal. I want to thank the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force, the State’s Attorney’s Office, and the staff of the Effingham Police Department for their partnership.”

Other notable sentences included Corey W. Dasenbrock, 48, also of Effingham, sentenced to 110 months’ imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; Hayden L. Limes, 29, was sentenced to 96 months for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; Taylor K. Nathan, 31, received 84 months’ incarceration for similar charges.

Robert J. Beckler II, 55, faced a more severe sentence of 120 months for conspiracy, possession, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Russell A. Beldi, 45, from Teutopolis, Illinois, was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment for his role in the meth distribution network.

Jodi L. Corbella, 48, from Citrus Heights, California, received a 144-month sentence after being convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and sending it to Beldi for resale in Effingham County. Jesse D. Blain, 40, of Effingham, was sentenced to 60 months’ imprisonment.

Three additional individuals, Chelsea J. Sipes, 41; Timothy E. Finfrock, 66; and Philip M. Blair, 43, all from Effingham County, await their fate as they were indicted on July 25, 2025, on federal methamphetamine related charges.

This relentless pursuit of drug dealers in the Effingham area underscores the commitment to eradicating illegal substances from communities across Illinois.
