WASHINGTON – In a stunning conclusion to a series of brazen armed carjackings and robberies, Dominic Armstrong, 21, from the District of Columbia, was sentenced today to 120 months in prison. The sentence, announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, comes after Armstrong’s guilty plea on April 10, 2025, for his role in a spree that terrorized the metropolitan region.
Armstrong, also known as ‘D1’ and ‘Domo,’ pleaded guilty to carjacking, brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and Hobbs Act Robbery for interfering with interstate commerce by robbery. The sentence includes 5 years of supervised release following his prison term.
The spree began on March 17, 2023, when Armstrong and two others carjacked a blue Honda Civic at gunpoint on the 3800 block of Minnesota Ave. NE. Just over a week later, on March 28, he participated in a robbery at gunpoint from three construction workers unloading equipment on K Street SW.
Armstrong’s criminal activities came to an end when he and his co-defendants were apprehended in Fairfax County, Virginia, on March 30, 2023. Armstrong attempted to flee on foot while his co-defendants escaped in a carjacked vehicle. A year later, on May 14, 2024, he struck again, robbing an Uber driver at gunpoint in D.C.
Armstrong was charged federally on August 1, 2024, and arrested on Sept. 12, 2024. His co-defendants, Javon Roach, 20, and Andre Rushing, 23, were also sentenced; Roach to 228 months in prison and Rushing to 108 months.
This case was a collaborative effort by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, the Fairfax County Police Department, and the Metropolitan Police Department. It was prosecuted by Trial Attorney Gaelin Bernstein and Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Duvall of the Violent Crime and Narcotics Trafficking Section.
