GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: In a stunning blow to the fentanyl trade, 35-year-old James Walker from Enterprise, Alabama, has been sentenced to 43 months in federal prison for his role in a massive conspiracy to distribute the deadly drug. The sentence was handed down on September 16, 2025, by Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson.
Walker’s guilty plea earlier this year marked the culmination of an investigation that began in March 2023, when the FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service zeroed in on a drug network shipping fentanyl from California to Alabama. Alongside Walker were Shanarion Lee, 33, of La Mesa, California, and Hillary Lewis, 32, of Lemon Grove, California.
The sting led to the interception of several packages containing counterfeit oxycodone tablets laced with fentanyl, a deadly synthetic opioid. The drugs were destined for addresses in the Middle District of Alabama. Walker was caught red-handed after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl on June 4, 2025.
Lee has already been sentenced to 46 months in prison, while Lewis awaits her fate with a scheduled sentencing date of October 2, 2025. The coordinated effort by the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Enterprise Police Department led to the dismantling of this dangerous operation.
Assistant United States Attorney Paul Markovits prosecuted the case, ensuring justice for the community. Walker will serve his prison term without parole before being placed under supervised release for three years. His sentence serves as a stark reminder of the deadly consequences associated with fentanyl trafficking.
