Washington – Grimy Times has learned that Carlton Simon, a 20-year-old from Washington, D.C., has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old classmate. The chilling incident took place on the afternoon of May 29, 2025, in Northwest D.C.
Simon, who attended school with the victim, Angel Dominguez, approached him on Florida Avenue armed with a firearm. As Dominguez tried to escape, Simon allegedly turned his weapon on the teenager, pointing it at his back and subsequently subjecting him to a chokehold before firing into the young man’s chest.
Dominguez was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the shooting. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the charges against Simon, who made his initial appearance in Superior Court on September 16, 2025.
Superior Court Magistrate Judge Heide L. Herrmann determined there was probable cause to hold Simon without bond until trial, where he faces second-degree murder while armed with a firearm. Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department was present for the announcement of charges.
The investigation into the case is ongoing and being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rashmika Nedungadi. It is important to note that Simon is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
