Newark, N.J. — Three members of the Sex, Money, Murder subset of the Bloods street gang were locked away for 108 months each after their conviction in a major drug trafficking ring. Jerry Ross, alias ‘Molly’ (age 47), Luis Delvalle, alias ‘Lou’ (age 42), and Joseph Ross, alias ‘Rock’ (age 43), all pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin. Je. Ross, the ringleader, also admitted to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
According to court documents, this drug trafficking organization operated an open-air market in Plainfield, N.J., and was closely tied to the Bloods gang. An intense investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations Newark and local law enforcement recovered multiple firearms, large quantities of drugs, and packaging materials following searches and arrests.
The Ross brothers, Delvalle, along with Pernell White (37), Jaquay Bell (36), Andre Gaddy (32), Jacob Douglas (43), Tarrell Strond (43), and Tayeire Thomas (27) all faced conspiracy charges. Thomas received a 48-month sentence, while Strond was sentenced to 36 months. The rest of the defendants are expected to be sentenced in the coming weeks.
Acting United States Attorney Alina Habba emphasized the commitment to dismantling violent street gangs like the Bloods and their subsets, stating, ‘Every law-abiding citizen deserves to feel safe.’ Habba also highlighted the collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies in this operation.
HSI Newark Special Agent in Charge Michael S. McCarthy commented on the importance of holding drug traffickers accountable, emphasizing the two-year investigation that protected New Jersey families from the dangers posed by such criminal organizations.
The successful prosecution was a result of the efforts of Homeland Security Investigations under Special Agent in Charge Michael McCarthy, Union County Prosecutor’s Office detectives, and other local law enforcement agencies under Chief Harvey A. Barnwell’s leadership.
