Torres-Torres Sentenced for Illegal Reentry

GREAT FALLS – Leobardo Ricardo Torres-Torres, a 38-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to time-served and remanded to the U.S. Border Patrol after pleading guilty to illegal reentry.

The defendant, who had been removed from the United States in November 2016 without permission, was found in Havre, Montana, on March 24, 2025. Torres-Torres, who claimed to be working construction and originally from Mexico, had no documents permitting him to enter or remain in the U.S.

According to court documents, Torres-Torres attempted U.S. citizenship in 2002 with a fraudulent birth certificate. He was allowed to withdraw the application and return to Mexico but was later found in Arizona twice for illegal entry and deportation violations.

In March 2025, after entering the U.S. again near El Paso, Texas, Torres-Torres faced prosecution by the United States Attorney’s Office. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative aimed at repelling illegal immigration, eliminating cartels, and protecting communities from violent crime.

Presided over by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris, the sentencing was another blow to the ongoing battle against illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.

This gritty sentence sends a stark message about the consequences of illegal reentry into the United States, reflecting the government’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and protecting American communities.
