A brutal attack on a woman in Shiprock, New Mexico, has landed Angelia Garcia, 35, a two-year prison sentence. On November 21, 2024, Garcia repeatedly stabbed Jane Doe without provocation, leaving her with serious wounds, including a stab wound to the back of her neck.
Garcia confessed to the crime during an interview with agents, admitting she had stabbed the victim. The Navajo Nation Department of Investigation, with assistance from the FBI, worked to bring the perpetrator to justice.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, announced the sentencing. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Pahl prosecuted the case.
Garcia will serve her two-year sentence without parole and will be supervised for an additional three years upon her release.
