Three Rivers Pervert Johnathon Roberts Sentenced to 15 Years for Child Pornography

Corpus Christi, Texas – The grim hall of justice has once again echoed with the sound of betrayal and despair as 39-year-old Three Rivers resident Johnathon Roberts was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for his monstrous act of sexual exploitation of a child.

In a hearing that saw tears mix with anger among those affected, U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos handed down the severe sentence, noting that Roberts had not only violated the law but also the trust and innocence of a minor relative. Roberts’ admitted to creating similar recordings over a period of years, which he later uploaded onto the internet.

The investigation was launched after child sexual abuse material was detected online. With swift precision, Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations identified Roberts as the source. On October 25, 2024, authorities secured a search warrant for Roberts’ residence in Three Rivers, where they discovered his cell phone harboring over 150 videos and images of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

During an inspection, law enforcement stumbled upon a particularly heinous video recording Roberts made of himself engaging in sexual activity with the minor female. The court was informed that Roberts had confessed to creating the video. The man responsible for this despicable act will now serve 10 years on supervised release following his prison term, during which time he must comply with stringent requirements aimed at preventing him from accessing children and the internet.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Overman prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The defendant will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility, marking another victory for law enforcement in their relentless pursuit of justice against those who prey on the innocent. Three Rivers and beyond can now take solace in knowing that Johnathon Roberts will not be able to harm others from behind bars.
