Poole Peddles Painkillers, Faces 20-Year Prison Stint

A federal court in Wisconsin has dealt a devastating blow to painkiller trafficker James E Poole, sentencing him to 20 years in the slammer.

Poole, 43, of Milwaukee, was found guilty of distributing oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance, and conspiracy to distribute the same.

The U.S. government alleged that Poole, through his involvement in a large-scale painkiller trafficking ring, supplied oxycodone pills to users in the Milwaukee area.

According to court records, Poole’s trafficking operation netted him a tidy profit of over $1 million.

Poole’s defense team, led by attorneys Abbey Marzick, Morgan L Minter, and Michael C Schindhelm, argued that their client was simply a small-time player in a larger scheme.

However, the prosecution, led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, successfully demonstrated that Poole was a key figure in the trafficking operation and played a crucial role in facilitating the distribution of the controlled substance.

The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge William Conley, reflects the severity of the offense and the harm caused to the community by Poole’s actions.

Poole will also face five years of supervised release following his prison stint and must pay a $100 special assessment.

The case against Poole was investigated by the Milwaukee Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
