Pharmacy Robbed

⏱ 2 min read

Michael Nixon, 31, of Philadelphia, robbed a pharmacy at gunpoint in the Kensington section of the city on December 22, 2021. At approximately 5:44 p.m., Nixon forced a pharmacy employee back into the store and demanded access to the controlled substances safe. He then pointed a black firearm at the employee and ordered them to put the narcotics into plastic bags.

Nixon fled the store with the stolen drugs and got into a waiting blue Dodge Charger, leading Philadelphia Police Department officers on a high-speed pursuit through the city. During the chase, officers observed medicine bottles being thrown from the vehicle.

The pursuit ended with a minor vehicle accident at the 3100 block of Janney Street in Philadelphia, where Nixon and the driver were taken into custody. Police later recovered multiple bottles of controlled substances, including alprazolam tablets and methylphenidate hydrochloride tablets, which matched the substances stolen from the pharmacy.

Nixon was convicted at trial of robbery, using and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence, and two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 8 and faces a maximum possible term of life in prison.
