Aaron Lucas, a 39-year-old resident of Buffalo, NY, has been sentenced to 48 months in federal prison for his conviction of being a felon-in-possession of a firearm. U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo handed down the sentence in U.S. District Court in Buffalo.
The case against Lucas began on October 25, 2015, when a New York State search warrant was executed at his residence on Busti Avenue in Buffalo. During the search, officers recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle.
Lucas’s conviction in 2003 of a felony charge in state court made him prohibited from legally possessing a firearm. Despite this, he was found to be in possession of the rifle, leading to his conviction of being a felon-in-possession of a firearm.
The investigation into Lucas’s activities was a joint effort between the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Byron Lockwood, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ashan Benedict, New York Field Division.
