Aaron Rex, Heroin Distribution, California 2020

Aaron Rex, 57, of Oroville, California, has been charged with distributing heroin, according to a federal indictment.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment today against Aaron Rex, charging him with two counts of distributing heroin, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.

According to court documents, Rex distributed heroin on two occasions in 2020.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Butte County Interagency Narcotics Task Force.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ross Pearson is prosecuting the case.

If convicted, Rex faces a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison on each distribution count and a $1 million fine.

Any sentence, however, would be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.

The charges are only allegations; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
