A 31-year-old Portland man was sentenced to 5 years in prison for being a felon in possession of firearms, as per a recent court ruling in U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine.

Abdulkadir Bile, aka ‘Ace,’ was handed down a 60-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen. The defendant was also ordered to pay a $6,900 fine.

The sentencing comes after Bile pleaded guilty to the charges on March 29, 2022. Bile was convicted in 2013 of felony aggravated assault in Androscoggin County Superior Court and in 2017 of unlawful trafficking of Schedule W drugs in the Cumberland County Unified Criminal Docket. These convictions prohibited him from possessing firearms under federal law.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed a search warrant at Bile’s residence in Portland in October 2021. During the search, they recovered two firearms from a bed in which Bile was sleeping. The recovered firearms were seized as evidence in the case.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The program aims to foster trust and legitimacy in the community, support organizations that prevent violence, set strategic enforcement priorities, and measure the results.
