Katlin Vine Tiger, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, South Dakota 2012

ABERDEEN, SOUTH DAKOTA – An Aberdeen man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for his role in a brutal assault that left a victim with a severe concussion and facial bruising.

Katlin Vine Tiger, 22, was sentenced on November 4, 2013, by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. As part of his sentence, Tiger will also serve three years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

The assault occurred on August 25, 2012, when Tiger and another individual accompanied the victim to a private residence. While walking, Tiger and the other male assaulted the victim with their fists until he fell to the ground. The attackers then began kicking him about the head and body, resulting in the severe injuries suffered by the victim.

Tiger’s brutality was only exacerbated by the fact that he was wearing steel-toed boots during the assault. The investigation into the attack was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy R. Morley prosecuting the case.

Tiger was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 11, 2012, and pled guilty on July 29, 2013. He was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following his sentencing.

The victim suffered a severe concussion, loss of consciousness, and facial bruising as a result of the attack. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of violent crime and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.

With this sentence, the people of South Dakota can rest a little easier knowing that justice has been served in this heinous case. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
