PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – Adam Busby, a suspect in a series of hoax bomb threats against the University of Pittsburgh, is currently residing in a Dublin hostel after being released from detention in Ireland.
According to U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton, Busby had been incarcerated on a European Union warrant since July 2012, awaiting a hearing before Ireland’s Supreme Court on his appeal of his extradition to Scotland.
Hickton stated that the U.S. has taken legal action to extradite Busby to Western Pennsylvania, where he faces pending charges in connection with the hoax bomb threats.
The threats, made in late March and April 2012, prompted a massive response from law enforcement and caused significant disruptions at the university.
Bail conditions dictate that Busby has no access to the Internet, and the U.S. is working to obtain his extradition to face charges in Western Pennsylvania.
Busby’s extradition to the U.S. will be closely monitored by law enforcement, who are eager to bring him to justice for his alleged crimes.
