Adam Haddad, Tax Fraud, Massachusetts 2020

BOSTON – In a shocking case of tax evasion, Adam Haddad, the owner of Everett and Worcester auto body shops, has been sentenced to eight months in prison for his role in a payroll tax scheme that bilked the IRS of over $290,000.

According to court documents, Haddad, 43, of Shrewsbury, paid a significant portion of his employees’ wages ‘under the table’ from tax quarters ending in March 2015 through June 2017. This illicit practice allowed Haddad to file false returns with the IRS, underreporting the actual wages paid to his employees and the employment taxes due to the IRS.

As a result of Haddad’s actions, the IRS suffered a loss of at least $292,231. In addition to his prison sentence, Haddad was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $292,231.

Haddad pleaded guilty to three counts of aiding the preparation of false tax returns in September 2020. His sentence was handed down by U.S District Court Judge Timothy S. Hillman.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara Miron Bloom of the Securities, Financial & Cyber Fraud Unit, with the support of Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell and Ramsey E. Covington, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation in Boston.

Adam Haddad’s crimes have sent shockwaves through the Massachusetts community, highlighting the importance of tax compliance and the consequences of evading the law. His sentence serves as a reminder that tax evasion will not be tolerated and those who engage in such activities will be held accountable.

Haddad’s auto body shops, Accurate Collision, Inc., were the subject of the tax scheme, and it is unclear at this time how his business will recover from the fallout.

The case against Haddad is a sobering reminder of the importance of integrity in business and the need for accountability in the face of egregious crimes like tax evasion.

As the Grimy Times continues to follow this story, we will provide updates on Haddad’s case and any developments in the ongoing investigation.
