BOSTON – A former adoption counselor, Lynrolte Cezaire, 29, of Medford, has been convicted by a federal jury in Boston for the brazen act of stealing personal information from over 3,000 Medicare customers while working at Tufts Health Plan.
Cezaire was found guilty following a seven-day trial of unlawfully disclosing Social Security numbers and engaging in aggravated identity theft. The judge has scheduled her sentencing for July 13, 2017. Currently employed by Adoption Resource Associates, Cezaire’s criminal activity spanned from 2011 to 2014.
During her tenure at Tufts Health Plan, Cezaire conspired with a coworker to photograph sensitive information on her computer screen. This data was then handed over to Sniders Jean-Jacques, a Florida man, and his brother Marvin Lubin, who used the stolen identities for fraudulent schemes involving Social Security benefits and false tax returns.
In December 2014, Jean-Jacques was sentenced to two years in prison. His brother, Marvin Lubin, was handed a one-year-and-one-day sentence in October 2014.
The charges against Cezaire carry a mandatory sentence of two years in prison for aggravated identity theft and no more than five years for unlawfully disclosing Social Security numbers, along with fines up to $250,000. However, federal sentences are usually less severe than the maximum penalties.
Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb; Scott Antolik of the Social Security Administration’s Office of Inspector General; Phillip Coyne of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Joel P. Garland of the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation; and Stephen A. Marks of the U.S. Secret Service jointly announced the conviction. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office also provided assistance, with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Landry and Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Richardson leading the prosecution.
