Adys Sanchez, Misuse of Social Security Number, Massachusetts 2019

BOSTON – A brazen attempt to deceive authorities has landed a Dominican national behind bars. Adys Sanchez, 47, pleaded guilty to one count of misuse of a Social Security number in federal court in Boston.

Sanchez, a Dominican national, represented that a Social Security number belonging to another person was her own in an application for a driver’s license renewal at the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles in April 2014.

As a result of her actions, Sanchez faces a possible sentence of no greater than five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss, whichever is greater

Sanchez was indicted in April 2018 and later arrested in Miami, Fla. U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin has scheduled sentencing for May 30, 2019.

United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling, along with other law enforcement officials, made the announcement. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Burzycki of Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
