In a shocking turn of events, Ahmed Hassan Ali, a 32-year-old resident of Philadelphia, was brought to justice for his role in a string of violent crimes that shook the city in 2018.
The charges against Ali included conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The case, known as AHMED, was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on May 8, 2018.
According to court documents, Ali was directly involved in multiple armed robberies that took place in Philadelphia between January and April 2018. During these robberies, Ali and his accomplices allegedly used firearms to intimidate and threaten their victims.
Ali’s arrest came after a lengthy investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Philadelphia Police Department, and other local law enforcement agencies. He was taken into custody on April 15, 2019, and subsequently charged with the aforementioned crimes.
Following a grueling trial, Ali was found guilty on all counts on September 12, 2021. He was subsequently sentenced to 25 years in federal prison, with no possibility of parole. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Cynthia M. Rufe on November 19, 2021.
