Ahmed Williams, Firearms Violations, Ohio 2023

A Cleveland man is facing serious charges after a bizarre incident at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Rehabilitation Department. Ahmed Williams, 37, was arrested and charged with one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

The charges stem from an incident on October 26, when Williams went to the Cleveland Clinic to visit his child, a patient at the rehabilitation department. Williams reportedly made unusual statements to clinic workers, claiming that “people were out to kill him” and mentioning the FBI and police officers.

Despite initially denying possession of a firearm, Williams later revealed that he had a firearm concealed in his pants. Cleveland Clinic police officers retrieved a HK Sig P2 flare gun and five .410 shotgun cartridges from Williams.

Williams is being held accountable for violating federal firearms laws. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing ammunition or firearms. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Cleveland Clinic Police Department are leading the investigation into this case.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Patton. If convicted, Williams’ sentence will be determined by the court after reviewing factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, a charge is only an allegation and not evidence of guilt. Williams is entitled to a fair trial, where it will be the government’s burden to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The exact sentence or outcome of this case has not been determined. Williams will face a trial, where the court will consider the evidence and impose a sentence accordingly.
