Kyle Jordan, Sexual Abuse of an Unconscious Person, Ohio 2023

Dayton, Ohio — An Air Force reservist raped an unconscious woman on base after a night of heavy drinking, then admitted his crime years later in federal court. Kyle Jordan, 31, of Franklin, Ohio, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse in U.S. District Court, facing up to life behind bars.

The assault occurred in December 2015 inside a bedroom at the Temporary Lodging Facility on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Jordan and the victim had been drinking together before he carried out the attack, according to the signed Statement of Facts filed with his plea agreement. The woman was unconscious at the time of the rape.

Jordan’s guilty plea was entered before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Newman. The charges were announced by Benjamin C. Glassman, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, alongside Lt. Col. Randal Pendleton, Commander of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations 10th Field Investigation Squadron, and Angela L. Byer, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Cincinnati.

Sexual abuse under federal law carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, with a mandatory minimum of five years of supervised release and as much as a lifetime of post-incarceration monitoring. Sentencing for Jordan is pending, with no date yet scheduled.

Prosecutors relied on a joint investigation by the Air Force OSI and the FBI, highlighting rare cooperation between military and federal law enforcement in sex crime cases on active installations. The case underscores ongoing concerns about sexual violence within military housing and command accountability.

U.S. Attorney Glassman praised the work of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Alex R. Sistla and Andrew J. Hunt, along with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy M. Smith, who is prosecuting the case for the United States. Jordan remains in custody awaiting final judgment.
