ROANOKE, VIRGINIA – In a scathing blow to the methamphetamine trade in Virginia, Rebel Steiner Akers and Sharon Denise Gallimore have been hit with severe federal sentences for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. United States Attorney John P. Fishwick Jr. made the announcement today.
Akers, 60, of Cana, VA, has been sentenced to 127 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. Gallimore, 38, also from Cana, received the same sentence for her involvement in the conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of meth.
This is not the end of their punishment as Lindsey Berrier, another conspirator, was sentenced last week to 84 months on similar charges. The trio’s downfall was a result of an intense investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and the Surry County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney Andrew Bassford was at the helm of the prosecution for the United States, ensuring that justice was served. This sentencing serves as a stern reminder of the consequences faced by those who engage in drug trafficking and organized crime.
As the grimy details of their conspiracy unravel, it’s clear that law enforcement is taking no prisoners in the war on drugs. The hard-hitting sentences handed down to Akers and Gallimore are a testament to the dedication and perseverance of those who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe from such dangerous elements.
For now, the streets of Roanoke and beyond can breathe a sigh of relief as two more drug kingpins have been sent behind bars. The fight against methamphetamine distribution continues, and these sentences are a stark warning to anyone considering getting involved in this ruthless trade.
