Tuscaloosa Man Indicted for Child Pornography

BIRMINGHAM – A 63-year-old Tuscaloosa County man has been indicted for producing and possessing child pornography, according to federal authorities.

A five-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court charges Murry Malone Bailey with producing child pornography between November 2010 and April 2012, and with possessing child pornography in Tuscaloosa County between August 2010 and May 2012.

The maximum penalty for producing child pornography is 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, while the maximum penalty for possessing child pornography is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Department and the FBI investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Wick handling the prosecution.

U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance, FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard D. Schwein Jr., and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Billy Sharp made the announcement.

Members of the public are reminded that an indictment contains only charges and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation has sparked a call for community vigilance and awareness about child exploitation, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.

Bailey will appear before a U.S. District Court judge for arraignment at a later date.
