WASHINGTON, DC – Alante Partlow, 29, is behind bars, charged with multiple crimes stemming from a deadly shooting in the Fort Totten neighborhood of Northeast Washington DC.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Partlow was charged with one count of assault with intent to kill while armed for firing on the adult victim, and a second count of assault with intent to kill while armed for firing at the child in an attempt to hit the adult. He also faces charges of aggravated assault while armed and possessing a firearm during each of the three violent crimes.
Government evidence reveals that on the night of April 23, 2024, at approximately 11:26 p.m., the adult victim and a 5-year-old child were walking out of an apartment building after a heated argument between the victim and Partlow. Partlow followed the victims outside and opened fire, striking the adult multiple times as they attempted to shield the child. The child also sustained injuries in the hail of gunfire.
The Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia are leading the investigation into the shooting. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Roberts will be prosecuting the case.
Partlow, 29, of Washington, D.C., is being held pending a June 27, 2024, preliminary hearing before Superior Court Judge Robert Okun. A complaint is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The streets of Northeast Washington DC can be a deadly place, and it’s up to law enforcement and the courts to bring justice to the victims and their families. As this case unfolds, one thing is clear: Alante Partlow is a danger to society, and it’s only a matter of time before he’s held accountable for his crimes.
