Twelve previously removed aliens from Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico have been charged with illegal re-entry into the US in separate cases in Northern Ohio. The defendants, including Alonso Diaz-Espinosa, Fredy Garcia Rosa, and Santos Antonio De Jesus Gomez, were found in various locations across the region, including Fremont, Elyria, and Norwalk, between February 17 and March 7. They had all been previously removed from the US, with some having been removed multiple times, and were found to have re-entered the country without the consent of the US Attorney General or the Secretary for Homeland Security.
The charges against the defendants include illegal reentry of a previously removed alien, in violation of Title 8 US Code 1326. The cases are being prosecuted by the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. The defendants’ previous removal dates range from 2003 to 2026, with some having been removed as recently as February 13, 2026.
The investigation and prosecution of these cases involve multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The US Attorney’s Office is committed to enforcing immigration laws and prosecuting those who violate them.
The defendants face significant penalties if convicted, including imprisonment and fines. The cases highlight the ongoing issue of illegal re-entry into the US and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat it.
