Rochester Man Sentenced to 25 Years on Gun Charge
A 36-year-old Rochester man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking crime. Allan Watson, of Rochester, was convicted of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court documents, on July 14, 2016, Rochester Police officers responded to a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Hollenbeck Street and Belfour Drive. During the investigation, officers directed Watson out of an SUV and, after a brief struggle with police, he was taken into custody.
At the time of his arrest, Watson was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol, crack cocaine, heroin packaged for street sale, and over $3,899 in cash.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Ciminelli, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ashan Benedict, and the United States Marshal Service, under the direction of Charles Salina.
Watson was sentenced to 25 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford and was ordered to forfeit two firearms and rounds of ammunition seized at the time of his arrest.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Marangola.
