Allen Lee Glover, Illegal Firearm Possession, Florida 2023

ORLANDO, FL – Allen Lee Glover, 25, is headed back to prison after a high-speed chase and a desperate attempt to ditch a loaded handgun landed him a six-year and five-month federal sentence. U.S. District Judge Wendy Berger handed down the punishment Thursday, adding to Glover’s already extensive rap sheet.

The trouble began July 6, 2022, when Orlando Police officers tried to pull Glover over. He floored it, leading officers on a chase before ditching the vehicle at a residence. Glover didn’t stop there, bolting on foot and tossing a black Glock GMBH Model 19 pistol, loaded with 9mm ammunition, over a fence. Officers quickly apprehended him and recovered the weapon from the backyard.

This wasn’t Glover’s first rodeo with the law. Court records show he’s a three-time convicted felon in Florida, previously busted for grand theft, conspiracy to commit burglary, and burglary. Federal law clearly prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition – a rule Glover blatantly ignored. The Glock and the 9mm rounds are now forfeit.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Orlando Police Department jointly investigated the case, building a solid case against Glover. Assistant U.S. Attorney Noah P. Dorman prosecuted the case, securing the conviction and lengthy sentence. The investigation reveals a pattern of disregard for the law and a clear danger to public safety.

Federal officials are framing Glover’s sentencing as part of “Project Safe Neighborhoods,” a broad initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by uniting law enforcement at all levels with the communities they serve. The program focuses on fostering trust, supporting community organizations, and strategic enforcement. But for Glover, the program’s message came too late.

Glover pleaded guilty on August 4th. He’ll now have over six years to reflect on his choices, serving his time in federal prison. The case serves as a stark reminder that illegally possessing a firearm carries severe consequences, especially for those with a history of criminal activity. The streets of Orlando are a little safer with Glover behind bars.
