Allen Man Sentenced To 33 Months For Domestic Assault By Strangulation

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has handed down a significant sentence in a shocking domestic assault case. CHANCE ADRIAN GRIFFIN, 21, of Allen, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment for the heinous crime of DOMESTIC ASSAULT BY STRANGULATION, as per Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1153, 1151, and 113(a)(8).

The charges stem from an alleged incident on or about January 20, 2016, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, specifically in Indian Country and under the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States. The defendant, who is of Native American descent, is accused of assaulting an intimate partner through the act of strangulation.

This harrowing case was investigated by the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, showcasing a coordinated effort between federal and tribal law enforcement to bring justice to the victim.

The Honorable Judge James H. Payne, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the sentencing hearing in Muskogee. GRIFFIN will be held in custody pending transportation to the designated federal facility where he will serve his nonparoleable sentence.

Assistant United States Attorney Edward Snow represented the United States in this pivotal case, ensuring that justice was served for the victim and their family.
