Pittsburgh Felon Charged with Illegally Possessing a Gun
Ambrose J. Sample, II, a 37-year-old resident of Allegheny County, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of federal firearm violations, according to United States Attorney Scott W. Brady.
The two-count indictment, returned on February 6, named Ambrose J. Sample, II, as the sole defendant. The indictment alleges that on or about June 17, 2017, Ambrose J. Sample, II, was in possession of a firearm and ammunition, despite being a convicted felon.
Federal law prohibits an individual who has been convicted of a felony from possessing a firearm or ammunition. Under the indictment, the law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
Assistant United States Attorney Shanicka L. Kennedy is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
