A major gun trafficking operation has been busted in California, with six individuals facing federal charges for their alleged involvement.
According to authorities, the operation involved the transportation of over 500 firearms from Georgia to California, where they were sold on the black market.
The defendants, Andre Warren Jr., 24, of Sacramento; Jjuan Brown, 32, of San Francisco; Kenyatta Alexander, 37, of Sacramento; Jarren Meek, 24, of Stockton; and Keino Brue, 28, of Georgia, were charged with conspiracy to traffic firearms without a license and trafficking firearms without a license.
Aisha Hoggatt, 30, of Sacramento; Terrence Phillips, 40, of Union City; James Gordley, 33, of Modesto; and Malek Williams, 29, of Georgia, were previously charged in the case.
Prosecutors allege that the defendants used coded language to traffic firearms and moved money through various financial institutions.
The investigation began when a firearm used in a Sacramento shooting was traced back to a licensed federal firearms distributor in Georgia.

The case is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Sacramento/Bay Area Interstate Firearms Trafficking Strike Force.
The strike force is one of five launched by the U.S. Department of Justice in July 2021.
