New York Man Admits North Jersey Knifepoint Bank Robbery
NEWARK, N.J. – Andres Dominguez, 38, a Bronx, New York, man, pleaded guilty today to robbing a bank in Bergen County, New Jersey, in January 2017, Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick announced.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court, Dominguez admitted that he robbed a Bank of New Jersey in Fort Lee, New Jersey, on Jan. 12, 2017, while brandishing a large knife.
The bank robbery charge carries a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 31, 2017. The Acting U.S. Attorney credited special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Timothy Gallagher in Newark, with the investigation. He also thanked the Fort Lee Police Department, under the direction of Chief Keith M. Bendul, for its contribution to the case.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason S. Gould of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark. Defense counsel is Carol Gillen Esq., Assistant Federal Public Defender, Newark.
